GamesLab is a one million pound programme providing expertise and grants for emerging and established games companies in the South West.
The programme of investment which includes funding, workshops and business expertise is designed to aid and sustain the growth of the South West’s burgeoning games industry through the development of innovative games and Intellectual Property.
Working with emerging and established companies, Creative England GamesLab aims to create the conditions necessary for the most innovative and commercially astute games companies from around the region to flourish.
GamesLab will offer 2 rounds of Funding, each aimed at facilitating a Project at a different point in it’s development cycle.
Round 1, The Development Fund, is available for SME’s to apply for Grants between £10,000 and £50,000 to completely develop a new Game IP for commercial release. The Development Fund is open now for applications.
Round 2, The Prototype Fund, will be available for Start-Ups to apply for a Grant upto £10,000 to develop a Prototype, ready to pitch for further outside investment. The Prototype Fund will open in Q2 2014.

Grants between £10,000 and £50,000 are available for Small or Medium Enterprises (SMEs) based in the South West of England who wish to develop their own intellectual property (IP). GamesLab aims to support PC, mobile & home console game projects which demonstrate innovation, originality and commercial viability.
The smaller and younger you are as a company the greater the benefit we can bring and the greater the likelihood of success with your application. Our aim is to support economic growth, facilitate job creation, and improve skills development in the games sector. GamesLab does not take ownership of any IP or equity created during the project.

Your project should have a clear route to market and you should demonstrate sound understanding of the games Industry and option available to you.
Your project should be commercially strong enough to generate sufficient revenue to grow your business and fund future projects.
Show us that your team can develop and deliver the prototype to the set budget and timescales.
Business scalability and capacity
Your business should be able to grow and strengthen, forming a long-term co-located team or studio.
We’re offering grants of up to £50,000 for the development of games for PC, Mobile or Consoles. Best of all, you get to keep 100% of your IP.
Our team of industry experts are on hand to advise and mentor successful applicants in the development of their project.
GamesLab works closely with Industry Event organisers, which means we’ll make sure successful applicants have access to the best gaming events and maximum exposure for their project.
