The English regions are doubling for 19th century France in Les Misérables. Regional gems from the National Trust’s Ashridge Estate to the Historic Dockyard Chatham in Kent and including Winchester College and the so-called ‘English Versailles’, Boughton House in Northamptonshire, all feature in the film.
