Creative businesses across England have the chance to secure a £12,500 investment plus a package of business support to develop their most innovative digital ideas. Creative England’s Digital Accelerator, supported by Silicon South – Dorset’s creative and digital hub, provides an opportunity for up to ten businesses to pitch their ideas to a panel of leading experts, from varied digital businesses, and be in with a chance of securing seed investment.
The accelerator programme welcomes a range of digital business ideas from companies based in the North, Midlands or South West to apply – everything from app developers to gaming, animation and special effects. Also eligible are creative digital companies that want to innovate traditional sectors such as healthcare, aerospace, finance, or climate change. Selected companies will also enroll on a full mentorship programme with industry veterans including Mike Hawkyard, Managing Director of Amuzo Games; Simon Coulter, CEO of Wildfire; David Ford, CEO of Bright Blue Day; and more. Successful applicants will receive a programme of regular support including workshop sessions, professional coaching and a two day residential of comprehensive business support to help take their product or service to market.
Jim Farmery, Creative England’s Director of Business Development, said: “We know that there is a wealth of creativity and business ideas bubbling under the surface in England, just waiting for the right investment to make those ideas a reality.
“At Creative England we are dedicated to providing support to startups from the very beginning and throughout their growth. Our new Accelerator programme does just that and takes advantage of the expertise and networks we have in place to really give the digital creative industry the backing it needs to thrive.”
Silicon South is supporting the scheme, representing one of the most vibrant digital creative communities in the UK.
Nuno Almeida, Board Director, Silicon South, said: “Silicon South is a magnet for entrepreneurs. Our strong economy, both in creative industries and other verticals such as healthcare, tourism, finance and advanced engineering, as well as an open business environment, stunning lifestyle and two world class universities, make it a great place to be a digital innovator.
“For start-ups, the ability to access the right kind of mentoring, funding and expertise in the first two years is critical. Through the Creative England Digital Accelerator programme, and access to this vital support, we hope to drive the continued growth of successful digital businesses across Silicon South and the rest of the UK.”
