Creative England Supported Games Make It Onto TIGA Awards Shortlist

A number of Creative England supported games have made it onto the TIGA awards shortlist. Creative England will also be sponsoring the ‘Best Start Up’ category which will be presented by our Head of Games and Digital Jaspal Sohal at the ceremony in November.

As the trade association for developers, digital publishers, service providers and education providers, the TIGA Awards was set up to reward all areas of the games industry, from start-ups to established studios. They aim to recognise excellence and innovation and applaud and encourage the next generation of creatives.

A total of three Creative England supported games companies and their titles have been nominated on this year’s shortlist from both our Greenshoots and GamesLab South West programmes.

Backed by Creative England’s Greenshoots programme and nominated for the small studio Action/Adventure award is Gunfinger by Pixel Toys, which has also been short listed for the small studio Arcade award.

Backed by our Games Lab South West programme, Victory At Sea by Evil Twin Artworks has been nominated for the Action/Adventure small studio award as well as the Leadership award for demonstrating both commercial and creative success over the last 12 months. Evil Twin Artworks sit in this category alongside goliath companies such as Playground Games, famous for Forza Horizon 2.

Finally, Total Monkery Ltd which received funding via the first round of GamesLab South West have been nominated for their debut game MagNet. The project also has a second nomination in the small studio Arcade category.

"We're delighted that a number of the game projects - funded or part-funded through our programmes - have been shortlisted for the TIGA awards 2014,” says Creative England’s Head of Games and Digital Jaspal Sohal. “We've seen first hand the commitment, hard work and enthusiasm of these indie studios and it's fantastic to see them get the recognition they so deserve.”
