Creative England Supports Flatpack Film Festival In Coaching Midlands Talent

We've teamed up with the Flatpack Film Festival to search for filmmakers from the Midlands to take part in a series of Birmingham-based events between September 2015 and January 2016.

Run in partnership with the BFI.NET.WORK, these events will be held monthly at Birmingham's Impact Hub and are designed with writers, directors and producers in mind.

Applicants will need to have experience in the creative sector in order to snap up one of 40 spaces; from film, TV and animation to theatre, visual arts, music promotions and commercials; a wide cross-section of relevant creative experience would be suited to the programme, which reflects the immensely diverse creative demographic in the Midlands area.

The programme offers a wealth of information on a range of film related topics, from distribution tips to fundraising and telling stories to maintaining creative vision, with industry professionals offering up their knowledge and experience on the topics. Peer-to-peer learning plus opportunities to network with fellow local filmmakers will also be a focus of the sessions.

Paul Ashton, Senior Film Executive at Creative England said:

“Creative England is delighted to be collaborating with Flatpack. They came to us with an innovative proposal to develop talent in the Midlands, and their film festival shows they have real form, profile and personality in regional film activity. We expect the module to have a motivating and unifying effect on talent at a key stage in their careers – and we very much look forward to reaping the benefits of that.”

Sam Groves, programmer at Flatpack Film Festival said:

“It’s a really great opportunity for filmmakers in the region to meet each other, develop their networks, and build working relationships with peers specialising in different areas of the industry, and in different parts of the Midlands. Participants will also hear from some of the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals in the country, so there’s a lot to be excited about.”

The deadline for applications to the event is Monday 17th August 6pm.

Please note applicants must be over 18, based in the Midlands and out of full-time education. Head here to apply
