iFeatures film ‘Spaceship’ Starts Shooting

Hot off the heels of The Goob’s win at Dinard Festival, iFeatures’ film Spaceship starts shooting this week in and around Farnborough and Guildford, Surrey.

Written and directed by Alex Taylor and produced by Nicola Bowen and Olivier Kaempfer with Belly Productions and Parkville Pictures, Spaceship tells the story of Gabriel’s search for his daughter after an apparent alien abduction. Set in a sleepy commuter suburban town, Gabriel's journey takes him dangerously close to her strange group of so-called friends and into a world of cosplay, underground raves, mysterious Iron Age burial grounds and ancient rituals.

Spaceship was developed through iFeatures, Creative England’s flagship low budget feature film initiative run in partnership with BFI Film Fund, BBC Films and Creative Skillset. iFeatures is currently in its third iteration with eight films going through full development, three of which will be greenlit at the beginning of 2015.

"IFeatures is an intense journey into the world of feature films and I'm now super excited to go inside and explore it to the fullest with our brilliant cast and crew," said Alex Taylor, Writer and Director. "The story has gripped us all in a collective dream of what it is to be different and to want our own personal world in which we can be who we want."

Producer Nicola Bowen said: "It's a pleasure to work with such an amazing cast and crew. Antti Reini is a great lead as Gabriel and we're thrilled to have such a fresh and exciting young cast, who I'm sure will go on to be stars of the future."

Tristan Goligher, iFeatures Executive Producer, said: “iFeatures is all about supporting talented emerging filmmakers and Alex’s work is genuinely unique amongst British filmmakers – he’s been rightly awarded for it at festivals such as SXSW. In Nicola and Olivier the project also has the guidance of two talented and exciting young producers. This is a strong team, with a fresh approach to filmmaking, and a story with a very original take on the British suburbs. I’m very excited to see the finished film.”

The cast of Spaceship includes Antti Reini (The Man Without a Past, Il capitano, Sincerely Yours in Cold Blood), Alexa Davies (Dusha shpiona, X+Y, Cuckoo), Lara Peake (Bypass), Lucian Charles Collier (The Only One Who Knows You're Afraid, Mike), and Tallulah Haddon.
