Struggling psychiatric nurse Joe impulsively absconds with Archie, his 80-year old long-term patient, on a daytrip to the seaside intending to re-engage him with real life...
Unfortunately, the memories Joe stirs up are not happy ones as Archie relives the incident that pushed him towards a lifetime of mental health problems. The present and past colliding through conflicting and conflicted perspectives.
Whilst the underlying themes of the film include grief, lost childhood and the problematic legacy of male-ness, the film is fundmentally about a positive, if unlikely, friendship. Shooting on 16mm film, to suggest the more fuzzy, subjective nature of memory we will also experiment with the use of digital back-projection.
