Creative England is pleased to announce Charlotte Bond as the Programme & Engagement Manager for the new Creative Growth Programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Focusing on companies working within the creative industries, Charlotte will work to engage, empower and upskill the region’s creative offer as part of a landmark programme that aims to showcase how boosting the creative sector can engender wider growth and regeneration.
Worth an estimated £116bn, the creative industries serve as a tremendous driver for local, regional and national economic growth. The Creative Growth Programme aims to tap into this enormous potential, helping established businesses grow and scale up their operations while giving emerging companies the skills they need to make their mark and ensuring the next generation of creative practitioners are primed to compete and succeed in the country’s burgeoning creative economy.
Charlotte’s experience spans almost 25 years in the cultural sector. She joins from Cornwall’s Kneehigh Theatre, where she spent 13 years building the theatre’s business, increasing audience numbers and bringing in a range of high-profile grants – most recently securing £803k from the Coastal Community Fund.
Stephanie Clark, Senior Programme and Engagement Manager for Creative England, said: “Having Charlotte join the team to lead our work in Cornwall and the Isle of Scilly is a real coup. Her energy, ideas, connections and deep understanding of the region’s creative landscape mean she can really hit the ground running, and having grassroots experience of successfully scaling up one of Cornwall’s premier cultural institutions makes her the perfect person to help other practitioners do the same.”
Charlotte Bond said: “I couldn’t be happier to join the Creative England team. As new challenges go this is a huge undertaking, but I’ve seen first-hand the tremendous passion, ambition and ability of Cornwall’s creative community, and I know just how much potential there is here. While I’m sad to bid farewell to the Kneehigh Theatre this is a huge opportunity to boost and support the place I’ve called home for the past 13 years, and I’m looking forward to doing everything I can to help the region’s creative industries grow, develop and prosper.”
Managed by Creative England, the Creative Growth Programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is funded by the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
